Today we discussed about what is art and design and we all got to the conclusion that is a solving/problem issue. It is great how art can be defined as many different definitions and used in many different ways worldwide. I learned so much from this lesson and improve my knowledge about my major and what I really enjoy to do. today in class we discussed about poster, how companies make posters and that people can get money for designing a poster as individuals. we did an exercise consisting on replacing a phrase for a better one. "different than your local art school> it was an interesting task. My answer was " more diverse than....

Playing the GAme "What if....."

Today's class we play a game called " What if........" everyone had to say what if and and ideo out of this world. we all participate and got pretty good ideas. I remember if was my turn I I said what if all the countries were unite into one as a physical , one land together... I was like it be a conflict and confusion n chaos..... wow that be a real change in the world. I heard some good ones too that caught my attention such as what if we got eyes behind out head... had lots of fun listening to my classmates and different ideas.

Today 3-6-12 we work in groups solving a problem

Today was all about work in groups. The main idea was to solve a problem and encourage out classmate to explain our solution. Great exercise, we all enjoyed and learn fundamental things that will help us in our process to became better.

We worked in groups for the final project and also watch you tube videos Maeda TED TALK (teachnology Entertaiment Design) it was a great video to learn and experience someone's profession as in design. I learn a lot from this guy motivation, creativity, and tactics to catch the audience attention. Extremely fundamental for students.

Working in group for Final Project!

Today we took the whole period to talk about what we learned in this class and the importance of each assigment, games, concepts, data, etc in this class. We made a list of all the things we covered in class since we started the first day of class. After reviewing the list, we talked about about Final project to our classmates getting new ideas, advices, references. It was really helpful to me because now I have a good criteria and its time to make my video.

why art 220 is different from other classes!!

Today's class was unreal, meaning it wasnt like the other classes we had. This time we talked about why art 220 is different from the other classes and students explained their point of view and perspectives of how this class is successfull in their career. In my opinion, its the first time I take a class like this, I enjoy each class because there is always something to learn. The professor is great in his critiria and phychology. There is a purpose for each assigment, games, video, etc. We might not use a textbook or read a lot, but this class is about to learn about ourselves and go to the next level with the teacher's help as out guide to the top.

Today's class we started the day by talking about our thoughts about guess speaker kali Nikitas. I really enjoyed her introduction and ideas. She pointed out good things and talk about her process or path to be a successful person. I learned a lot from her speech, things that would be really important in my career as a designer. Second part of class was more about playing a game where we have to memorize two things and repeat to the other person and try not to lose the chain by going around. It seems easy at first, but once you get the two objects, there is a big change you mess up and the whole group have to start all over again. It was a great practice and also excercise your brain ( more active). Great day!

Presentation day 2 continu...

Today was the second day to present out product or games. Today was my day to present and to my luck I was the first one. I admited I was nervous because I do not talk a lot infront of groups, but I didnt do it that bad at all. I had couple of mistakes but I was glad my classmates told me my mistakes. I felt really confident after presenting because I learned new things and this also helps me develop myself as personal and with groups. Great day and knowledge.......

Critize presentation day 1

Today class was all about presenting our games projects and critize our presentation.  It is difficult to talk infront of people because we are shy, nervous, or just not use to talk. I learned a lot from this excercise because we learn from our mistakes and plus students and teacher gave us advices that will help us in the future jobs and interviews. I enjoyed it so much. Im a little bit shy when talking infron of people but I know I can do better each day and with practice I will reach my goal.

Describing our 9 new games to the class!

Today's class was more about critized each game. The teacher's main point of view was based on the title, purpose, how to play, and a real good concept. Some student did a really good job, and some others not. i enjoyed this class because we the students learned how difficult is to be critized but learn to do a better work and be competitive for this assigment.

TOday was all about playing games. Three different games with different people. I really enjoyed this day because it was about challenge and winning. Next class show 9 different concepts of games.........

film day (sir Ken Robinson) and explaining task for next class (game)

Well today we watched a film of "Sir Ken Robinson" talking about his book called the Element.The book is about What makes the difference+who we really are. Phenomenal speech in my opinion. Sir Robinson got charisma and very good points of view to defend his point. One important quote during his speech was " being good at something is necessary not sufficient" in which in many situations is totally true.

Discussed about maping

We talked about design map processing. The steps to get an A in our class. Not so much words but visual images that will make easier to understand the process to reach the goal. The teacher gave us samples and assigned a homework that in my opinion is great because we need this type of understanding and communication as a group by sharing ideas from students.

Working in Groups/help each other

Today's class was all about helping each other in finding new ideas for the assigment which was to get 10 quotes or words from a pictures to create a different idea of the image. I did really enjoyed this excecise because makes you think a lot. At the end of the class we talked about the word " Methodology" meaning consistent, method, approach, habit, set, system of procedures. notes: I learn always something new in this class and this is more learning about yourself than just read a book, this class is really constructive to me.

ELizabeth Gilbert/ group work

Today's class we listen to Elizabeth Gilbert ( a famous incredible writer of all time) Love/fascination her quote. Creativity was her topic. Uses self reflection to students and she relates to writers as she talks. Humor was important during her speech. At the end of class we worked in groups again. I felt that it was a really good work out for us because we are able to communicate better and expressed our thoughts.

Answering question 1: well I experienced fear based on my reactions by being too shy at times, not getting involved in class or participate. It's important to do the best and no matter what fear we could have, to always keep trying our best.

question 2: Im successfully overcoming these reactions by just being the best each day. Enjoy and learn from others.  There is always new things to learn each day and to me that is a blessing. I enjoy listening and learning from others ( teachers, writers, successfull people, etc)

Discovering how to work in groups to fix a problem....

Today's class was all about working in groups to solve a task by selecting the best drawings to the worst. We learned that time is vital, meaning that all classmates need to make an effort and think the best solution to solve the problem. We did accomplished the task, but learned that we needed to work together. We were asked in small groups to discuss solutions and better ways to work together.

Visual Intelligence + Application

Today's class was really fun because we discussed the differences between a Game and a Test. Game= fun ,  Test= Stressfull. Most part of the class we visualize pictures (a family at a social convention, a stop sign, President Obama, Earth, sun flower, jack in the box logo, joker, etc) We learned how to describe each picture as what we see not what we think it is........ 

Introducing an apple!

Today's class on 1/12/12 we talked about the syllabus, but also was a unique one for me because we learned how to visualize, feel, touch, sense an green apple. This experience excercised my mind and ways to describe the green apple as (shape,line,color,value,texture,balace, visual movement). Really interesting!
